This edition of Beats & Eats is the most moving and important to date.  Hosts Ty Ray and Nick Gelso examine the Sundance winning movie Fruitvale Station.  The film chronicles the shooting death of 22 year-old Oscar Grant by BART Police on New Year's Even 2008.  Ray and Gelso discuss the films effect on themselves and society.  Later in the episode, Ray and Gelso are joined by Yolanda Mesa.  She is the sister of Sophina Mesa, Oscar's girlfriend and mother of his daughter Tatiana. Mesa discusses how the family and city of Oakland were effected by Grants death, as well as the legacy that Grant left behind.  This is the story of Fruitvale Station, the movie, and the reality.
